A small guide for leaders concerning spies

The bad aspects of haypi:
Spies
Drifters

How to spot them an deal with the

Spies-often used during wars between alliances, these often decide the winner.
A spy will be chosen from the alliance and will be given a list of info to be found out. This list can include:
Playing time
Prestige
Armies(size,where they are)
Traps and turrets(lv and city they're in)
Amount of members, who these are
Who vices are(prime targets)
Where oasis/forts that belong to tay alliance are

Basically, a spy would quit the alliance and join the enemy alliance. If they can get into a branch, it's ok because then they can give you those coords and you can farm the low lvs, the main alliance will defend them(in most cases) and give away coords of the city the troops were sent from. This can be seen even during the attack(actions tab-scroll to red{to be attacked} this will say troop numbers, where they are being sent from, and where they are heading.

How to spot them:during a war or uneasy times with another alliance,a player comes fro out of the blue and starts asking questions. They won't be all at once, but over a few days when different players are on so they can obtain as much info as possible.they will create alliance maps, and never answer questions about past alliances.

Drifter alliance members-
Basically they go from alliance to Alliance, seeking benefits or info. These are 1/4 of the time spies. They don't want an identity so they hop and hop every day or so. Soon they are forgotten and can go back and forth.

How to find them:
•They join and get VERY excited.
•they constantly ask your alliance for treasure an resources at min price.
•they have a bad reputation on chat and with alliances.
•they never contribute to the alliance.
•they are rude,ex:
If you have a nugget I'll take it. But if you have a gem I'll take that too.
They won't "take anything" and should be discussed by vices and leader as to what should be done.
•they leave your alliance after they get what they want.
•they make alliance maps an paste them on wc.
•they just join and quit, an other leaders talk about them In a bad way.

They usually come for benefits, protection, resources, treasure, etc. Don't give them anything and monitor their chat, as they might get angry and swear. If they do kick them and never let them back in. An alliance is for help in a good way and that aid shouldn't be taken advantage of by anyone

I know this is a short guide, but I'll update it soon. Update version should be out by January 5. If you have any suggestions or something you want a guide on letter me(ranger32) and ill type one up.

Re: A small guide for leaders concerning spies

Such is the nature of online gaming, it is almost impossible to completely spot a spy. Some are obvious but others are not and 99% of the time you rely on people's opinion and past knowledge rather than concrete proof.

The best way to counter a spy is simply build your alliance around people you know and trust then only extend invitation to other people you've come to know for a long time and feel like you can trust.

This usually means you will not be challenging for rankings as effectively (usually but certainly not impossible, if you have a group of close friends whom are experienced players with coins it's not that hard to be the number 1 alliance even with an alliance that's half full). but it makes a much more stable alliance.

Re: A small guide for leaders concerning spies

Of course, I am not saying it's the best way to build a successful alliance, but simply the best way to avoid spies.

There will be other problems arising out of an alliance that "doesn't worry about rankings", there will always be ambitious players who wants to join a high ranking alliance and other players might lose motivation when they see little progress to the alliance.

Pros and cons to every type of alliance building.
