fir4st you have to understand battle before you will know what to do
once you understand you will be able to practice as the variables in battles are so many you should be able to woprk out your own methods.

im level 4 with 25 attack 25 defence 25 speed and 20 fortune... did i mess up by putting too much points into attack? i plan to run a cav army. I also accidentially levelled up attack to 2 with technologies. should i just restart?

No, you did not mess up. Why? Because you've only raised your title once and you have a loooong way to go. By the time you actually really need those stats you'll have compensated for any misspent points, and/or used coins to change your stats.

Basics (Here are some basic principals):
-Always have troops hunted(8-12 hours yield best hunts)
-Prestige can be gained by:
*Building troops or upgrading buildings
*Winning battles with other players
*Getting money from hunts
-Prestige becomes harder to gain the higher your lvl
-Troops cost you crop and your crop will become negative. Always refill crop in your cities every 9 hours so you dont starve and lose troops.

Attributes:
There are 4 places to add attribute points, they are:
•Attack-increases the attack of your troops 0.5% per point
•Defence-increases the defence of your troops 0.5% per point
•Speed-increases the speed of your troops 1% per point
•Fortune-increases the likelihood of double/triple power attacks and better hunts
You shuld spend these points depending on your preference of army
1) Attack is best used with huge powerful catapult armies and attack increases how many troops your troops will kill in one round
2) Defence is good for cav armies since they may take several hits before landing. Defence reduces the loss to your troops in a round
3) Speed is important for any army. Any good player should get there base speed to 100 before focusing on any other attribute. Speed determines who hits first in a battle
4) Fortune is good for infantry armies. Infantry armies yield great results from 90 hour hunts. Its also good for ranged armies since it increases the chances of double/triple attacks.
Skills (there are 5 skills) these are:
1) Open Chest-Each level increases the level of chest you can open without a key
2) Heal-Each level lets you heal more troops that were killed in battle
3) Break Cranny-The higher your break cranny the more resources you can take from them. This means you can take a portion of their cranny warehouse. This is good for farmers who like to starve enemies and wipe them.
4) Hidden Attack-This lets you have the chance of your attack not showing up so you can attack without noticing. It will still show up in the action tab but it wont show up in the home screen.
5) Convince-This lets you persuade a percentage of the troops killed by your traps to join you.

•When it comes to mines catapults are the best and archers are good meatshield.
•When you sell something the markets gets 8% of profits
The best ways to make money are:

•Sell stone and any extra res
•If you use infantry hunt for 90 hours
•If you use cavalry hunt 3k cav for 2 hours. (You can do about 6 hunts of these a day for about 3k each time)
•Snipe or refresh market and look for cheap stuff and sell for more
