True, with an archer army speed is not the most important thing. Since many people still rely on cats, which have a Max speed of 175, you can hit them 1st by having lvl 10 marching and decent equipment, without putting any points on speed.

I input this into my formula from long ago (I can't remember my old password), and I found some very interesting results. When compared with cav and arch, the infantry bested the cav and arch in terms of prestige/cost ratios and whatnot. But when cats were put into the formula, they bested the inf. This is probably due to the low amount of resources needed to build a cat, which affects the prestige gained from building, and not so much with the crop consumption. So in terms of practicality, you are correct; inf are the most efficient units when it comes to crop consumption.

If anyone finds any holes in the lankonkian formula, let me know.
