Basic PVP Guide
PVP Guide.
Here is my basic guide for PVP. I'm by no means a PVP master, however hopefully this guide will help beginners and those that want to get a decent rank without using coins.
Some of this information I've read in other guides (who's author was unknown), some is from experience and most importantly the help of Keith21 and his alliance Ninjas!
The first priority is to upgrade your main building and warehouse. You will need to keep in mind that people will be your limiting factor. Try to get your main to a level such that you always have people available. Also with your warehouse, there is no need to upgrade it much past 100K res to start with as this is the max cranny.
Once you are not limited by people, highly recommend buying VIP for at least a week. You can also speed finish some of your building upgrades. You will have to use your judgement here as there is no use speed finishing if you run out of people.
By about day 2 you will probably want to change your priority to upgrading your cranny. The last thing you want is to become a farm. Also you will need to get your baracks up in level.
Now you need to start building an army. Personally I use cat and inf in PVP, as I find this is the best use of resources. There are no notifications in PVP so you don't need to worry so much about travel time.
As you are building your army, upgrade your crop resources to support them. Crop is really the only resource you need to worry about too much. In the beginning it is worth buying resources using coins until you can farm low level forts.
I would also recommend enhancing your crops, it can make a hugh difference! Just don't forget when it runs out. You should keep around 100 coins for any callbacks required from a fight you can't win.
You don't need a hugh army to be successful in PVP. Mostly you will be finding starves. Its worth remembering that if you are cropped and farmed while you sleep you will need to survive with 40-50K crop in the worst case. Personally I occupy crop oasis and treat it as a bonus. When your crop is approaching max, sell it on the market at max as a way of storing it in case of emergency.
Remember by the time protection is over you will want an army that you can attack with.
Now while you are waiting for your army and building upgrades, you will need to start making some money for techs. One of the best ways to do this is to snipe items from the market. Some players use alts to try to sell equipment to their main, so you can beat them at there own game!. Get around 100K in gold either using coins or farming. You then can go to the market and look at level 15 eq. You will have to be very quick to catch items at minimum.
Once you have these items simply sell them back at max. Don't worry they will sell!
Also if you get your army built quick enough you can farm forts and sell resources while the prices are still high.
In terms of tech, shooting is very important. You will want to get it to at least 7-8 during PVP. Next up personally I like to get scout up fairly high. You will need to also research marching skill as well as planting.
As most of you know, speed is still the most important attribute.
In terms of skills, it really depends on how you play. Chest and convince are worthless. Heal is good to minimise pp losses. If you plan to get your resources from forts then don't worry too much about cranny. A high cranny can help you to starve people though so it is up to you. Hidden is still a good option in my opinion even though no notifications, as you are more likely to catch anyone online.
Ok so you now are setup and protection is about to end. Let the fun begin!
Scout around you to try to see what your neighbours are up too. As soon as bp is over it is quite easy to catch a lot of people who have forgotten and left troops out. Enjoy this while it lasts!
Once things settle down, you will need to start finding pp. You will not get very far in PVP if you are not winning fights. You will want to scout people who are low on crop. If the crop is positive, check and see if they have crop oasis. If they do, taking this may well result in an instant starve and pp for you.
If their crop is negative, you need to calculate how long it will take them to starve.
To calculate this scout again 1 minute after first one. You can then calculate the rate at which they are starving by the difference. You can get more accurate calculations by doing again at 10 mins etc.
So now that you have found a likely starve, you want to be the first one there. For this to happen, you need to arrive at the city 1-2 minutes after their crop drops to zero. You will need to take into account the time it will take your cats to travel there. You will also want to stack attacks so no one else can get in. So for example say you are 8 mins by cat from the person. At say 26 mins until they starve send 1 cat. This attack will land at 18 minutes to starve. As soon as you have sent that attack, send another one. This will stack on your first attack and land at 8 minutes out, stack your full army on the second attack which will take another 10 minutes. This means you will land 2 minutes after the starve. You will need to be very accurate in your calculations, you might want to make it 3-4 mins if you are unsure, however the army will keep starving and leaving less pp for you the longer you take.
If you are scouting the victim just as they starve, you should have time to ensure you have enough cats to kill their army. When the fight begins, check the field length. If they have better shooting than you, you are unlikely to hit first unless you use advanced tactics (such as switching their cats target). You should call back if you cannot hit first.
If you can find a few good starves you will soon find yourself shooting up the ranks!
Hopefully this guide will help you win some fights and get you a better ranking.
