Building branch cities V2.0
1> build them close together in a clump. this is a good defensive option as it allows the quick dispatch of troops in order to defend a particuler city. however this limits your attacking range, due to the fact that the longer it takes for you to attack another player the more likely they are to hide there troops or reinforce them. this also prevents people from warping to hit your maibn city as you have plenty of time to hunt your troops if you are attacked. with the ability to warp cities it is possible to warp a city temporarily out of your group in order to get a big hit then warp it back later and spread your troops out again.
OK. with options 2/3 outlined here it is a good idea if your cities are around clusters of forts, this is where lots of forts of varying levekls are clumped fairly close together. or around lots of forts.
2> spread them out alot. this is good as it gives the range and variety to give you many options fo attack and increases the amount of prestige you are able to aquire. due to crop consumption in cities less active players may find it difficult to hold large armies in these branch cities individually, however with fort and oases warping the ability to congregate armies quickly makes this tactic very appealing to some. in terms of defennse this is a good option as people may have trouble finding your sub cities in order to steal them. this protection in difficult locating your subs is very handy in a war situation but if you are warped you cannot reinforce quickly enough. also be wary that there will never be enough forts to set up a permenant warp loop between all the cities so the taking of oases and this can be a very time consuming process and very confusing to coordinate.
3>place 5-10 minutes between all cities. this offers the best of both worlds but however does not offer it as effectrively as the other two options. it is a middle ground. you have the possibility to defend if your attacker is far enough away and also allows you to congregate troops for an attack however not as speedily as option 1. it also does not offer as larger scope for attack as option 2 but is quite a large area if your city placements are clever.
please remember there are many tactics in the intermediary such as two groups of cities close together. one city away from the rest of the cluster. this is just a list of pros and cons for three possible options.
