its actually not what you think. you see peach doesn't actually love Mario she has a thing for bowser (who doesn't like giant green turtle loving) so she lets herself get "kidnapped" and has lots of time alone (toad gives him false info of where she is) so now Mario is going through all this for a cheater that he loves and all the while the entire kingdom suspects something but they wont admit it to him cause itll break his heart. so they just live their lives that are all lies but are still better than the truth
