In a way. To get the combo you must link 3 balls or more and then link 3 or more balls again without fail that starts the combo and gets it to "2" then you can keep the combo going by linking and linking. If you only link 1-2 you lose the combo.

Without having a Ipad, I cannot say. However I know what the melon does; The melon explodes all balls of the same color and number. Very helpful to have.
