Territory

I got an idea about adding territory to the game. With territory owned forts and owned cities would create a boundary area which would be the players territory (a larger territory may add to prestige) oasis's and unowened forts would still have to be attacked to get. Battles could also be fought in fields within the territory. If someone builds a city within another players territory, two options would be available: one declares war and the other asks the territory leader for permission to build the city. If the player declares war, a notification and letter would be sent.

Re: Territory

So what happens If you take a fort thats 2 hours away? Does that mean that evrything thats within 2 hours is in your territory?

Re: Territory

Lol, yes, but chances are, other people will have cities in between there, so you wouldnt nessessarily have everything in between. The territory would go to the closest city. Other people wouldhave territory in between there, and the person with the closest fort/city (and maybe something else) gets the territory, so would likely have small sections of territory here and there.

Re: Territory

definately needs alot more work but i like the concept alot, having territory would make it alot more medieval, and having to protect your territory or risk losing it could improve the prestige gain of some people. maybe youd have to occupt every square for it to be your territory but you can still only get the resources/ money (from forts and oasises) from the set number you are allowed at your level.

Re: Territory

territory

1.Claiming territory
you claim territory by occupying that location. if it is an oasis or fort you need to occupy territory square by square.
blank squares will be given a mandatory rebel camp controlled by npc set at 1000 of each troop type. there is nothing there but the occupation of that square. it takes 5 attacks to take a rebel camp.
oasises and forts still need 1 and 3 attacks respectively to occupy them. you get 0 prestige for initially taking blank spots

2.claiming someone elses territory
just by occupying it with the required number of attacks
forts=3
oasis=1
rebel camp=5
this should improve attacking and defending leading to more battles and a greater movement of prestige around the leaderboard. occupying someone elses territory is worth 100 prestige losing it loses you 100 prestige.

Your territory
in your territory there is bound to be many oasis's and forts this raises the problems of currently you are only limited to so many oasises and forts per level.
forts- forts are easy as they stay the same level so you nominate the correct number of forts for your level to collect money from
EG you have 10 forts (3 lvl3, 2 lvl 4, 3 lvl 5 and 2 lvl 6)in your territory but you are only lvl 9 which means you can only collect hourly money from three of them so you pick the biggest ones (2lvl 6 and a lvl 5). if a fort is in your territory you cannot farm it for reasources.

oasis's - oasises change lvl every 24 hours even when unoccupied, so you nominate ones to get resources from. most people will therefore be able to occupy lvl 9 oasis's easier and switch between resource specialisation easier. however the lvl of oasis that your able to occupy and your occupied oasis are attached to depends on another tech in your tech centre, which you must upgrade to lvl 9 in order to occupy a lvl 9 oasis or have your territories oasises change to lvl 9.
so u can nominate which ones provide resources to which city according to your lvl only so many oasises can provide resources to your cities

rebel camps- although they seem pointless they are vital if you own everything round a rebel point but not that rebel point someone can occupy that rebel point and attack you from that rebel point. however the key thing with this is that you cannot hunt your troops from a rebel point so if they are left there you cannot hide them and also you cannot dispatch them from that city if you are attacked. when stationed in a rebel point the troops feed from the city they are sent from. so you can attack from these rebel points but if you are attacked while your troops are in a rebel point you must defend it as your troops cannot escape. this makes attacking from a rebel point incredibly risky as if you are caught in one you could be kept there for hours while you are attacked by 1 cavalry.

making new cities.
you simply convert a rebel point into a city

just a little explanation hope it expands and is what you were thinking of sledj
