Troop Upgrading

I have seen a lot of threads asking for more units, so my idea is not more but better units. The upgraded units could have more life(infantry) carry more rescources (Calvary) increased range(archers) and for cats I'm realy not sure what would be upgraded. To upgrade it could cost rescources and money per unit upgraded. Somewhat like traps and turrets but more difficult to do. This is a rough idea, may not be practical but it was just an idea. Any additional suggestions welcome.

Upgrading troop untis has been suggested before (who suggested it u say? ME! mooahahaa)

I like the idea a lot, the idea for resources to upgrade works since that's what all upgrades use, but for the money, why not add a tech for either the entire Barracks or one tech for each type of troop. Just another suggestion

I like essentials tech idea. That way unlike traps, you could keep the lvl of the upgraded units.

There could be a new building, the blacksmith and you could upgrade troop abilities there. (yes I know there is a tech center)
