When you open letters there should be multiple tabs at the top. All, where all the main is shown. War, where all war reports (including alliance) and scout reports are shown. Alliance, where alliance letters, trade reports, war reports, and alliance kick/promote letters. Lastly, the trading tab where trade reports, alliance or regular, are shown.

Very good point! In my opinion the letter section should have an option for deleting multiple letters instead of having to delete them one by one which can be very tedious.
