I hear your frustrations. Haypi often feels like a Beta version of a game- a good base of a game, that could be a lot better with some refinement. I have often wished that Haypi was open source... or that they would even let me work on the project for free- I could teach them a few things about scalability! (I am a programmer and build systems that handle tens of thousands of events per second on PC hardware).
I started working on a clone, but I had to start putting in a lot more hours at work, and I also don't have much skill in building GUI's- I am much more of a backend guy. There were some guys over at jleaguechat.tk that were putting in an attempt at making a game, but they were pretty amateurish- they spent more time on political issues than getting actual work done, and none of them could code, which is a big requirement.
