See, now that's a very good point.
Perhaps an option to turn on "automatic crop purchases" where if your own crop levels drop to zero, crop are automatically purchased from the lowest end on the market.
Naturally, if you run out of money, you run out of options and your troops die as per usual.
Something like this might be exactly what the market needs to beef it up a little bit. It'll give people more incentive to maintain a decent level of money (by selling resources/items at a greater percentage) while at the same time, partly helping the market.

Crop prices wouldn't rise. They'd skyrocket. The demand for crop would be MUCH higher than the average person buying some before they go away from playing haypi for a while. More people would be buying crop, and I'd expect the prices to be way more than they are right now. I know S4 is .02 and sometimes .01 or .03 depending on the time of day.

How would anyone get money? All the top players have lots of money. Hell, i'm only level 14, and I have 600k money. Easy. But....if prices go way up, how are people going to afford anything? Things are hard to sell in the first place.

And I think this counts as a macro.

Now I wrote a proposal for a warehouse upgrade so starvation wouldn't be happening as much. But, it got a little long and people stopped reading all the changes I had...I might re post it, but I digress.

If you don't want to do that, then as said before:

We split troops prior to sleeping, set alarms 30 mins before troops starve, always have a fort nearby or coins to buy crops.

Either:

-Don't try to get top 100 or even top 50
-Play very slowly (in terms of advancement)
-Buy coins
-Quit
Now this is a story all about how YOUR life got flipped, turned upside down, and I'd like a minute so, sit and be merry, I'll tell you how I became the Mother F***ing Gary.

How do you have 600k at level 14?! Don't you ever spend your money? Am I doing something horribly wrong?

I save my money for techs? I already got a scepter, and I'm still a ways off from lv 15 and prestige cap so I can just sell stuff in the meantime and attack players instead of building.

I would rather keep my money than to have it be automaticly spent on food. because it is easier to make more troops than to make money.

This would be an option, not a forced feature. And you really think troops are easier to make than money? for a few hundred or thousand you can prevent thousands of troops from dying for hours, at least at server 4's crop prices.
