Strategy for Newbies getting farmed

This post is directed at newbies. Seasoned players will know this stuff already. I am writing this from recent experience as I have only been playing for about 2 1/2 weeks myself which makes me a newb.

Anywayz to all newbies out there, don't take it personal when/if you get farmed. For me it was a short learning experience. 2 guys kept farmed me over the course of about 1/2 a day. It persisted until I figured out why they were farming me in the 1st place.

I was sitting on about 300 to 400 troops, and 20k+ in each resource. An attractive meal to any player with just a little experience. I attempted to rebuild after each attack until I figured it out.

So here's the strategy for newbs to keep from getting farmed in the first place.

1st - focus on upgrading alone. Don't build up any troops until your ready to use them (hunting or occupation). Sitting on a couple hundred troops does not deter attack it invites it. Player scouts you, builds up greater amount of troops (inf, cav, arch & cats) and rapes you anyway; gaining resources and prestige. At the same time you lose resources and prestige. Even if you are attacked while having 0 troops, you lose resources but no prestige. ' What about the resources lost?' This brings us to number 2.

2nd - try to keep the amount of resources on hand as low as possible while your waiting for current round of building upgrades to finish . I mean like 10k-. If you have more that, sell at market. You can use the money for Tech upgrades. With low resource count + 0 troops, players won't bother attacking you. It's not worth the trouble. :D

3rd - earn as many free coin as you can. You'll need it to buy money to buy resources to continue upgrading your resource buildings & techs.

Once you've built up your resource output, your Main Building people output, and Barracks lvl to where it's easy to build troops fast (fast being relative to you and your situation), you can start to figure out your hunting and occupation strategies. That's where I'm at now.

When you are full appear empty, when you are empty appear full. Some great ancient tactician wrote something like that. In this case always appear to be empty.

Newbies send me your comments; Vets, your criticisms would be greatly appreciated (seeing as this is my first post ever!).

That is a pretty good batch of info. What I would add is,when you do start training troops, make sure they are always hunting when you aren't using them. That way they can't be killed even if someone does attack. another thing i would add is to upgrade your cranny as quick as you can,you can keep more resources safely in your city that way.

Re: Strategy for Newbies getting farmed

Well congrats on this being your first post ever Pluto! I thought for new people that would be a very good guide to start out with. However, from my experience is no matter if you are online, or offline, ALWAYS HUNT YOUR TROOPS NO MATTER WHAT! People will still attack you, and since you cannot sell your resources while an attack is coming, I would suggest that if you ever find yourself in such a situation, use all your resources (or as much as you can anyways) so that their attack was fairly pointless. The best building to upgrade would be your cranny, so that they cannot get a bunch of your resources, unless of course their break canny skill is high. And remember to always build your tech levels, such as defense, shooting, and planting. Crops are the most important because you don't want your army to starve! :D

Re: Strategy for Newbies getting farmed

Yup, I've got my troops out hunting. What I'm doing now is harvest after making more troops. Then send them out again to hunt with increased numbers. Is this a good strategy? :|

My yield is pretty low because just small amount of troops (400) hunting for couple of hours before I harvest. My hope is to get troops up to 1000+ over time, then hunt for much more hours. Am I on the right track?

500 troops out + 100 to 200 troops training/# hrs then harvest = small yield, send 600 to 700 troops out, repeat till I get to 1000 and 1500 hunting all day. Feedback plz

Re: Strategy for Newbies getting farmed

First tip to do is to hunt your troops when you are out. never have negative crop outcome because if you are attacked, your crop goes to 0 and you lose troops cause of hunger.
second, ask a high leveled player to help prevent the farmer from attacking you

never have negative crop outcome till you reach lvl 10 then people will llook to starve you less often as they cant watch your crop
how do you let people know if your hot cakes are selling well?
