New branch location

I've seen in mentioned several times that when creating your second city, you should place it far, far away from your main. I've only just started playing, and I don't understand the strategy behind this. It would seem that if your cities are closer together, it would be faster to transfer troops from one to the other if they got attacked.

Can someone explain the "why" of keeping your cities far away from each other?

Re: New branch location

They recommend that so you have a wider scouting area and will be harder for others to find your sub city.

Re: New branch location

starting out, build your city relatively close by, around 3 to 5 minutes away. once you get used to the game, you can build cities that are farther or take cities.
