Early cities and armies for beginners

This guide aims to help beginners who are seeking for basic tips about what to do early in the game.

During the first three levels, simply follow all quests and learn more about the game mechanics, collect daily rewards and reach level 4. You will need a nugget so if you're playing in a fairly new server you may not have cheap access to it from the marketplace, and you may have to trade with 10 coins, so look ahead and spare some coins for this prestige title upgrade.

Once you\'re level 4, it\'s time to build your next city, look out for a close grid since you will use your first two cities for sustaining a big army, and transporting resources and dispatching armies between cities requires time.

Mainly focus on your main and warehouse buildings until you can sustain a good income of people/hr.

Your aim is to slowly upgrade all your resources to 8th level once you\'re satisfied with the main and warehouse upgrades.

The first time you get a chance, make cats and send them to occupy resources nearby. Begin with producing 5 cats to occupy a lvl 1 node around your city. Then, slowly add more cats to your army (you can ignore other units for now), you will need around 13 for 2nd, 18 for 3rd, 25 for 4th, 50 for 5th, 90 for 6th, and 150 for 7th lvl resources. Upgrade your shooting tech to 1st level with your next daily money. Occupy all your available resource nodes, my recommendation is to focus on wood, iron, stone and crops (in that order). Wood is your main concern since cats require almost double wrt iron and stone. Crop is last when you have a bigger army and your resources can\'t provide enough to sustain it.

Once hitting prestige lvl 6-7, it\'s time to start preparing to occupy a lvl 8 resource or lvl 1 fort, hopefully, you\'re already familiar with occupying lower level resources by now.

Just 250-300 cats (with shooting lvl1 tech upgrade) is enough for either of lvl 8 resources (2700/hr) and lvl 1 forts ($20/hr). Have some inf with you just in case (around 200-300) as a buffer unit to your cats, because cats are terrible at close range like archers.

Resource attack strategy: First round, wait all your other units, move your cats forward and target cav; second round, move your cats forward and target arch (if they\'re not in range, it will attack inf instead, then try attacking archers next round); third round, wait your cats and target opp cats. Forth, fifth and sixth round, target inf and move back. If there are more than 2000 inf, be extra careful. You may wanna attack inf after cav instead of arch.

Fort attack strategy: First round, wait all your other units, move your cats forward and target cav; second round, move your cats forward and target arch (if they\'re not in range, it will attack inf instead, then try attacking archers next round); third round, wait your cats and target opp cats. Forth, fifth and sixth round, target inf and move back. You may wanna attack inf after cav instead of arch.

At 1st occupy attempt of the lvl 1 fort (of 3 occupy attempts), you will see 6 traps/turrets, don\'t panic. Just use your cats to take turrets after cleaning other units, and sacrifice your inf for traps (should be 2/trap). The next two occupies are relatively easier.

Forts require three occupies; also bring 1000 inf if you want to collect all 50k of each resource at the end of your 3 raid (first and second raids will give you some resource depending on your hold capacity of your units, third only gives you the fort hourly - $20/hr). Scout a fort to find out more about resources and army, and calculate your army hold capacity accordingly.

Finally, do this once every 24 hours to keep your resource/fort lvls at the same node (occupying easily accessible, close range resources/forts saves you tons of time, especially with slow cats).

2700/hr a resource is much more than anything your city resource can give early in the game, so look for and occupy lvl 8-9 resource grids when you can (ie, lvl 8 resource upgrade in your city x 4 nodes = 1000/hr), also you will need extra help with crop nodes to sustain that multitude of cats.

Next, use these resources to get to 500 cats (with 4th lvl shooting tech upgrade) if you\'re aiming for lvl 9 resources (3700/hr) and lvl 2 forts ($40/h + an instant 60k of each resource).

I\'d focus on cavs once reaching 500 cats, and build my hunting army of all cavs, also good for raiding other players later in the game.

Finally, and I can\'t stress this enough, send your troops to hunting when ever you\'re afk/sleeping. You will thank me later for saving you a lot of prestige and costly units, plus all the reward you will collect from the hunt.

Good luck!

Re: Early cities and armies for beginners

A good guide except a few things, the defenses in Fort is random so it could have 2 traps or could have more.

Occupied forts does not need to be refreshed every 24 hours, their level does not drop.

Lastly, since fort level does not change, it would be much better if you occupy forts that's far away and keep the closer ones to farm for resources, in fact even if you don't occupy any forts and just keep farming them for resources it would give you resources worth alot more than the little money from occupying.

P.S. I think there are quite a few similar guide already in the Guides section, but good effort for making this.

Excellent guide!
May I suggest you edit it to include advice on joining an alliance?
Having a good alliance can really speed up a lot of these processes, such as having a teammate take lv9 oases for you.....
