Defence set up

Hi,

I am only a low level at the moment but so far I find that using cav for hunting is the way I want to go. Assuming that this will give me enough prestige? I would like to make my cities defensive.

What I mean by this is, I would like a set up that would pretty much stop any army taking over my city. What I was thinking of is: Max Turret + Max Shooting, then go with a 100% cav army for hunting, using this for back-up when I am attacked.

Would this work well, assuming 100 attributes in speed + rest in att/def?

Thanks in advance

Re: Defence set up

In my opinion, that is really the best way to go. Since you will already have a tough wall of Cav, your turrets will really shine.

Assuming you went with the ideal Cav build of Speed/Defense + Heal, your turrets will always go before an oponent's Catapults. That means that on the first turn you move your horses in front of your guns, those guns will take out a good portion of whatever unit the oponent used for Cat cover, your Cavs will then finish the kill blow on that unit, then the Cats will shoot your horses as it cannot target the turrets directly, so next turn will likely be absolute Cat annihilation with a combined attack of whatever Cav you had left from the first volley and the turrets finishing off the remains before they get a chance to shoot back. Your Heal should help alleviate whatever losses you took from the one shot the cats got, so this way you will maximize the amount of Pres you get from your attacker.

All in all, max Speed first for this build, then defense. Maxing Speed ensures that you will always go first with your Cav when you are defending, and that your turrets shoot before most anything the oponent brings to the fight (save for max speed attacking Cav).

Good luck with it.

Thanks, Seth. Just trying to be thorough. I may not be able to play as much as I would like, but at least I can help others understand the game a bit better.

Thanks very much for all of your help =)

I really hope this works, do you think that I would be able to sustain my troops with purely hunt rewards?

Don't understand the question. Do you mean spend all the gold you get from hunts to buy resources at the market?

Re: Defence set up

Ummm, sure. I suppose so.

I guess that depends on how much you need to sustain, what the current market on your server looks like, and the level of your buildings, techs, and captured oasis.
