Turret Range Research

It kills me that I don't know the ranges of turrets at each level. I would like to get an idea of the range by sending troops into different levels of turrets and seeing how far they can shoot.

I propose doing this by having an attackee with a turret and a bunch of expendable infantry and an attacker with a catapult. I chose the catapult since it is slowest and thus can give us the tightest potential range. The infantry will be there to be aimed against since we want to know what the range of the turret is and the catapult will take out the turret otherwise.

Does anyone want to help out with this? I am on server4 and generally on from 7ish to 11ish est. currently my turret tech is at 6, so we will only be able to test ranges out that far. That shouldn't be a problem because I am pretty certain there will be a set %increase with each level and it can just be extrapolated out.

Let me know if you want to provide a few cats for the test.

Field length - 300 = Range of the item with the longest range. Level 10 turrets have 1050 range 9 have 1000 with 10 shooting tech. Any lower can be killed by catapults with level 10 shooting.

Awesome Nado- if this is true, then it appears that the range increases 50 with each level:

1 600 (known from tutorial)
2 650
3 700
4 750
5 800
6 850
7 900
8 950
9 1000 (based on your info)
10 1050 (based on your info)

This means theoretically at level 5 you can start hitting cats, though the turrets low speed means the cat will hit you first. So really level 6 is the first level where you can start taking out taking out cats. Very cool.

Turrets attack based on your speed vs your opponent. If you have level 5 turrets and 0 shooting tech and you get attacked by catapults with 0 shooting tech and your speed is 20 and his is 19 your turrets will hit his cats first. Turrets are not worth getting until you have enough money to get level 9 turret tech.

Thats assuming your opponent has max shooting range, and you have none.
Assuming you have level 0 shooting range, Level 6 is where they are first potentially useful, vs cats w/ a shooting level of 3 or less. Level 7 they are useful against level 5 or less. Level 8... 8 or less.

Unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible...

I personally am not looking for a guaranteed kill, I just want them to feel sufficient pain to not want to attack me again. If I ever get level 9 turrets, thats when I start leaving nice numbers of cats around as traps in my cities ;).

I created a table showing the potential outcomes in excel that I have pasted here with some degree of success. The left column represents the turret level, the top row represents the shooting level, and the numbers are the range a turret will have for that shooting/turret level. The areas in red is where you are guaranteed to lose against a cat. The areas in green are where you are guaranteed to get a shot at a cat against someone w/ level 10 shooting. The regular text is a gray area where depending on the attackers shooting level, your turrets may or may not be able to attack cats. I attached the excel file I made this from, you can look at that too.
