I've seen this happen before, I'm not sure if account created through task get gifts, or maybe it's something else.

I am fairly certain it has something to do with what version OS you are using. When I started PVP on my phone (I have never gotten gifts here) I did not get any of the gifts. When I logged in on a friends iPad though I started to receive them. I'm not sure which version operating system gets what but I feel like this is part of why it happens.
