Poll: Cropping. Dirty play or fair game?

its the best way to gain resource. thats how haypi wants us to play anyway. they also want us to attack other peoples armies to gain prestige. thats why the prestige difference from lvl 15 to 16 is 350k. itll take along time to do that much prestige if you are waiting on your mines, and buiding troops.

No it is not, I can guarantee you the croppers do not grow faster than people who don't, in fact most of the top players in the game don't crop in a normal server.

i was talking about farming and attacking. i can see i didnt specify what i was talking about in my post.

Cropping is a fact of life and whether you like it or not, you're a warlord so you better be prepared to deal with it.

On s8, cropping was a way of life and none thought twice about doing it.

On s13, an environment of anti cropping has been fostered. It is virtually taboo there to the extent that if you even take a single crop oasis the victim will cry the blues. That's why you were met with so much aggression when you used the tactic, I bet.

This represents two opposite ends of the spectrum, but either way you slice it, it's an effective tactic for many situations. Whether it is accepted as fair play is a moot point. Any general who crops another should be expecting retaliation. These are turbulent times in the kingdom, and Alls fair in love and war, as the saying goes.

Cropping is totally fine. I'm from S3 and it's frowned upon by some and accepted by others. Most just frown upon it because you are wasting prestige.

Now the only retaliation that really came from cropping was by getting my city locked down for days on end. Other than that it's perfectly fine to bully the lesser generals for their prestige. It's a war game either defend yourself or go home crying

Ack I can't help but add, for all those who thinks cropping is fun, s8 is a great example, everyone cropped at the beginning and it totally ruined the server, there was a lot of bullying and it caused alot of newbies to leave the game before they properly enjoyed it. The server died down very quickly and the whole atmosphere on the server is full of tension instead of fun.

Maybe I am old fashioned about this, but that is a completely stupid way to ruin a server, sure you can feel like a big man bullying newbies, then when all the newbies leave the server is left with just a bunch of paranoid bullies, which meant no more fun for anyone.

Same thing have happened on s25, I know it's not anyone's fault in particular as everyone is just adapting to their environment, but I have to say, I hate people who ruins the game just for their own fun.

when i was a lower level, i thought i would get back at this higher level attacking me. so i tried to take his oasis, knowing that it had troops in it.
needless to say he destroyed my army.
however, i am now the higher level stealing the lower levels oasis'. and because of the shortage of crop oasis' on s101, there is alot of cropping there. i am with rico all the way on this one. if your going to play a WAR game, then s little war is sometimes necessary.

The merged server yes, everyone is experienced and the environment is such that you're forced to deal with cropping, on normal server no, people should be allowed to grow instead of bullied out of the game.

I have cropped people and people have attempted to crop me, I know it's part of the game, but I've never cropped anyone for prestige on normal server and the only purpose is aimed to punish or retaliate. I'd much rather have someone whom grows and I can take over 200k from over timethan to repeatedly starve someone, take maybe 30k and cause them to leave the game.

There are only a limited number of players on each server, you lose one player that's one less potential friend or prestige target. I know some people enjoy making people quit and frankly these people should not be allowed to define the tone of the game.

I understand it's part of the game and it is a perfectly valid strategy, but if you want to keep the game fun for others and ultimately for yourself, this is something that should be kept as a last resort rather than encouraged and promoted.

i would say cropping for prestige is not fun, but there is certain level of opponent that its ok. i would say at level 12. when your opponent is lvl 12, you can crop them without them crying to mommy. lol

Cropping builds a nasty reputation for you in where players fear your army and ways. I avoided higher ranks from touching me cause of my warlord rank I built. My main accomplishment was causing an entire alliance to disband when I declared war on them and cropped each one. Like I said it's not for the weak of heart
