Trap/turret location matter?

... All traps work pretty well when they have only cats cause then they cant get prestige if they kill you. Since cats would never go into traps

As far as I have seen in a battle a few days ago, traps are extremely effective against cats. 1 Lvl. 3 trap killed 64 cats of my enemy...

Traps do damage to speed, as pointed out by Uranos in a post elsewhere.
The lower a units speed, the more damage taken.
