Re: Cav strategies

I heard someone was making a guide about cavs.

I'd be very excited to see it when it comes out.

Re: Cav strategies

Just to put out a number, I have taken a level 8 fort with about 15K cavs before and might have lost a couple thousand in the process, but nothing too significant. I was actually trying to kill off some troops before I went on vacation so I didn't have to feed them and was surprised when they won the battle with minimal losses.

I might try that. Did you get a few lucky strikes?

Re: Cav strategies

What will be the field length be if we use Archers as compared to cats with cavs to fort farm?

Assuming shooting tech is 0.

PS: Had an interesting finding... I've tried using 1 Archer along with my cavs to test the field length. It turns out to be 900 + 84 since my Shooting tech is at L7 (14% of 600) and the range of Archers are 600.

The funny part was that I could engage the archer after they've moved 2 turns and I was waiting behind. Well, the maths seems wrong...

With 2 turns move, the enemy archer moved total 250. With a 984 field length, after the 2 turns, it should be at the 734 position. The range of my archer and not moving for the last few turns including this turn is only 684. So how did the archer hit the enemy archer? Hmmm...

In addition, my lone archer stayed behind all the way and was ok. The next funny thing was when I returned back to town after the fight, the war report shows that the archer was killed! Now I've really have no idea how it got killed. The report also don't show what killed the Archer... Funny...

Re: Cav strategies

I've only taken low level forts with cav only armies, I'll have to try somethign higher but have just under 14k currently. Love them for taking level 9 oases.

Turn wise, what is the strategy you use to hit the L9 Oasis?

I'm just trying to estimate the likely damages and how to move. There seems to be no way to engage the cats upfront because the field length is just too long @ 1100 even with max stats.

Re: Cav strategies

Yay Cavs!!!!! I use a cav only army and as a person who used to use cats n foots I must tell you that it is soooooooooo much easier to fort farm now then it used to be!!! FYI though most of these people on this thread so far have some whacked out numbers! You should not be attacking a lvl 8 fort with 15k cavs losing a few thousand cav for resources is just stupid. The kill rate for cav vs. foot exactly 1.38 this is assuming your attack is 20+45 from treasures with max techs. I am all speed then defence :)

The amount of cavs I use to fort farm are based on that rate you basically always want to "one shot" the foots meaning, obviously, to kill all the foots in one round. This is how you will take the fewest losses while fort farming with cavs. So you can easily just take whatever fort you want to attack now and divide it by 1.38 and BAM! you got the minimum amount of cavs that is required to one shot the foots! yay!!! Anyways I basically send whatever I feel like at forts simply because I have a TON of cavs.

So to sum things up never be an idiot n send a couple thousand cavs to hit a lvl 8 fort cause thats just not efficient :) hope this little bit helped someone out there looking to use cavs!!! Enjoy!

Ps Boo

Re: Cav strategies

In s6 we use a ratio of 1, 1.5, 0, 1. The infantry are used as turret/trap fodder. The cats are used to open holes in the defenses and for fort raiding, and the cavalry charge the cats.

I prefer to specialize. I'm going at about....3,7, 20,0. aiming for anyways. LOL might go for 50-60k infantry and split them bt my cities. making that 6,7,20,0. I technically have 100 cats right now, i dont' think i'll be able to hold this setup, may have to keep inf at 3 and bring archers down to 17 or 18. XD

Re: Cav strategies

I haven't started farming forts with cavs yet, but I don't like the Idea of bring archers with me, for 2 reasons. At high level forts, you actually wouldn't mind some units dying because rebuilding them gets you prestige. And archers slow down the time it takes for cavs to get to the fort.
