Not really someone else might have a different build or opinion.
And thank goodness you didn't because all of you guys got it wrong...
Your attribute is not a point for point addition to a unit's attack power. Each point of Attack/Defense counts as +.5%, while speed counts for +1%.
So the attack on a Catapult would be 300 + 72.5% = 517.5 (without tech), not the 445 mentioned above.
A question still lingers whether or not the tech modifier is applied to that figure, or if its cumulative to the %. So a max tech Cat's attack with L15s could very well be 577.5, or 621. Since the later seems a bit high parting from the "commonly" accepted idea that it takes two cats to down one cav in a single turn, I lean towards the former (which adds the tech % to the % given by the attribute).
Hope that sheds a better picture on what the actual effects of attributes are.

Thinks it just simple plus and minus via the stats its really hard to calculate and there is no real formula for it. I have tried multiple times to figure something concrete out but to no avail
Unless the battle reports are updated to include at least a figure for total damage dealt, there is no way for us to figure out the actual combat formula used short of Haypi actually disclosing it to the public.
It might very well be that its a simple Unit's Attack - Unit's Defense = Battle Damage || Unit's Life - Battle Damage = Total Damage, but then again, it might not be. We don't know whether or not the game pins units against other units individually, or if it adds all numbers together.
On a fight with 10 Cats (Attacker) against 20 Swords (Defender), we are just as likely to see 10 577.5 attacks against 20 144.3 defenses, as we are to see a single 5,775 attack against a single 2,886 defense.
See how it can get out of hand without official figures being disclosed? I have a number of estimations theorized, but they have yet to be verified by any official.
All haypi needs to do for me to figure out what the exact formula is is add a damage number to the battle report just like they included a Speed figure. Untill then...
