You will only be able to see the effect of the enhancement once you equip the item. It does not show the effect if it is not equipped.
Once you have equipped the item, check the value of the right number for the attribute it modifies, then you will be able to tell how much more stats it has boosted. For example, say I have a level 10 horse. Say it's enhanced to level 4, which would be a +10% boost to its stats. The only time you will be able to notice this boost in the stats is when you have the horse equipped. You will notice instead of giving +30 speed it gives +33.
