My cav/cat conflict

Hey guys, I have a decent amount of both cav and cats, however I want to really go one r the other as a large force of that type. I have been debating with myself the pros and cons of each:

Cav:
Pros-
Very fast (and I have 100base speed)
Cheaper than cav
Good for hunting
Work well en masse
Can handle most unit combos

Cons-
Lack of range
Need a lot to be effective

Cats:
Pros-
Great range
Great damage
Used to take forts and oasis with minimal losses

Cons-
Slow
Crop consumption is large

Help me decide! Thanks!

Re: My cav/cat conflict

i think u should make cats but still keep some cavs...
and 1 cat can take 10 inf
10 is 10 crop
1 cat is 10 crop so thats not bad...

Cav's are strong against Cat's. If you have say 200 arch, 200 inf, 200 cav, and 1k cats, you can easily kill over 3k cav's without a problem.

OR

You could be totally different and just make mass amounts of Cavs for fun. :p

(I think I might do that myself)

Re: My cav/cat conflict

Early Game meaning lvl 1-15 you should stick to only Inf/Cats to farm player and forts. Once you reach duke level you make your mass cav army because then you actually have the def needed to have them survive any incoming cat attacks

Re: My cav/cat conflict

I had my cav's from level 10 to level 14 and they have done me well. Now since i'm getting farmed by a alliance, i'm changing to cats to see what it's like again=)

Re: My cav/cat conflict

Cavs have a tactical disadvantage in battle against cats are on the defending side and have traps/turrets in each slot and/or one of every other unit. make the enemy take as many turns as possible to reach you while pushing cats forward. when cav will hit you next turn, retreat backwards. The cavalry don't have enough range to hit the retreating cats for some reason. Meaning that the cav will chase the cats all the way to the back row before hitting them.
This is why I use a ton of archers. It takes a lot of archers, but they're only 2 crop and have good speed for being ranged. They hit turrets on turn one, using the cav as meat shields for hitting the second row at the start of turn two. Then archers finish them (This result depends on total speed and range, never start with this setup. Like others said, start out with cats and inf). They can also shoot the cats while they're trying to retreat from the mass army of cav. The opposing cat army will have to make a decision between hitting the cav that are chasing or the archers that are hitting. ^^
