Noob question: Cats vs. Cats

Looking for some help understanding what to do when I'm being attacked (or attacking) a player with a cat army. My army is also built on cats. I realize there are several variables that can impact the strategy (tech levels, speed, etc.). Here is what I know:

- The player that attacks me has about 2500 cats, 2000 infantry, and 30 archers
- I have about 3000 cats, 4000 infantry, and 250 calvary
- My speed is 78 + 11 (total 89)
- His speed shows at 39 when scouted (not sure if this includes his equipment)
- My shooting tech is level 7
- Not sure what his shooting tech is

This particular player keeps attacking my base to raid my warehouse. If I am online when he does it next and callback my army, what should I do? This has happend once and all we did was hold all of our units until the battle expired.

Next time, would you recommend moving my cats forward? I would assume that if my speed is greater than his, I will get the first attack when our cats are both in range of each other (ie; my 3000 cats will get first strike on his 2500 cats). That said, there is a risk if his shooting skill is a higher level (ie; his cats would hit me before my cats got into range).

Any advice would be welcome. This guy has been annoying me for a while and I finally built a bigger army. I'd like to get a little retribution and let him know I'm not a farm for him...

One more thing: The field length when we fight is 1212. I'm not sure if this gives any valuable information on his tech.

Re: Noob question: Cats vs. Cats

The field length is based on the unit with the greatest range on he battlefield + 300.

You should be fine with level 7 shooting, your speed is sufficient enough to close him down so even if he has level 9 shooting it won't be a factor, he might have a small chance of hitting you first if he has level 10 shooting, but again, it depends on the movement speed of the cats.

Movement speed is how far your cat moves forward each turn, your speed is at 89 but you also need to take Marching tech into consideration.

I would attack him if he sits back, he does not have high speed cavs or archers that might hurt you. however what is your attack at? if it is not very high then expect some losses when you take on his cats.

Re: Noob question: Cats vs. Cats

Thanks a lot for the quick reply, Backburner. :)

Okay. My marching tech is level 7. My attack is only at 20 + 11, so yeah. It's low. That said, his attack only shows as 42 when scouted. HIs defense is at 26. So he's not all that much higher than me.

So your suggestion is to move my cats forward during an attack and close the range as quickly as possible? Thus, I would hope my cats would get first attack and coimpletely take-out (or at least mostly) his cats?

Re: Noob question: Cats vs. Cats

The scout stats does not include equipment boost or techs, so yes, you will get first strike but hopefully you take out most of his cats, his retaliation might hurt a little, I would also forward your inf on the 3rd turn you forward your cats to offer support. They can then either move forward to be meatshields or simply advance on his other units. Also your cavs will be useful too, but because of their low numbers try to use them only at the key moments, forward them if you decide to advance inf.

But this is an extremely rough plan as this is assuming he holds back, battle commands are complex when both players are commanding and you must try to keep in mind everything he may try to do when you make your move.

Update: LOL, it worked. Thanks again, Backburner.

He lost 2338, 0, 35, 2713 soldiers
I lost 0,0,0, 3 soldiers

Gained 29508 prestige. Not bad for a days work. I think he got the message! :)
