Hunting Theory

I know from the FAQ, that the variables behind hunting are:

Size of the army - Also alludes to the speed?
Fortune
Duration on the hunt
Length of time since hunted

I am looking for any experience people have with the different variables. I assume that I can control three of the four variables. That leads to the following questions...

How large of an army should I hunt with?
If speed is an issue, should I only be hunting with Cavalry? If not, is there a specific ratio of army that is more successful? How many are needed for a successful hunt?
The FAQ references 8 hours. What are peoples' experience with timing? Is 7 h 59 m mean you get crap, and 15 h means you get nothing better than 8 h 1 m?
I assume that more Fortune is better, but an open to peoples' experience with Fortune. Did you get a great hunt at 25 Fortune? 100 Fortune? Is there a threshold where hunts jump in success?

I am also interested in any thoughts on ability to identify unhunted oasis, but not sure that is something that can be defined.

Ok well first its 9-12 hrs i believe vayne did some research on that, as for ur army yes cavalry r better hunters, but ud rather have 4 inftry hunting than 1 cav... Also it takes a while to get good hunts. I found that after i passed 1k inftry i would get above 1,000 and ive gotten good money on my hunts with my army being much bigger fortune helps the hunts but i dont know if there is a tipoff pt, i think it just gradually gets better and send all your troops hunting when you do hunt because every thing counts and its better than leaving ur army in your city ;)

I've been playing for quite a while and I've discovered the only 2 things that matter are;
Overload
Oasis being relatively virgin.

I managed two hunts of over 10k with 1530 cats each in 9 hours.
I've managed 16k with 6k inf in 5 hours.
Etc etc

Try hunting on the bottom of the map where nobody is, that usually yields better than average results

i've found that people all experience different results... some of my best hunts were only 3 hours... (lvl 8 ring & Nugget) and then ive had good hunts from 9+ hours as well... 21k money etc... in other posts i said 5k-5k-5k-5k, but in my experience 20,000 troops hunting usually yields well regardless of class

Does anybody do this? Take a lvl 9 oasis, then when it reaches 1, you hunt?
